Program OverviewThe Certificate Program on the German-Chinese relations is comprised of specialized courses designed to provide participants with the fundamental knowledge to understand contemporary developments between Germany and China. Apart from examining significant issues such as economic cooperation, trade, the rule of law and cooperation in civil society, the program will also look to the future for chances of expanding the German-Chinese relations beyond trade and commerce, and will examine the possible role that cultural diplomacy can play in this respect.
The program provides a thorough background in International Relations and Economics, Trade and Commerce, using a historical and case study approach and addresses the most important contemporary international issues.
Program Structure, Methodology & Curriculum »The program will consist of a 2 week course held at the ICD in Berlin. It will give an overview of the current relationship between Germany and China, and trace its historical background. It will then address specific issues affecting the relationship. This thematic structure will prepare the participants to get the most out of the next part of the program.

Lectures & SeminarsLectures and seminars will include an interdisciplinary mixture of the relevant topics to the field of cultural diplomacy and international relations taught by leading experts and practitioners in the field.

- ‘Third Actors’ in the EU-China relationship- the USA and Russia
- German-Chinese Relations: Political, Economic and Cultural Dimensions
- Chinese Investment in Europe, and vice versa
WorkshopsThe Certificate Program workshops are a blend of interactive academic studies and practical training, which will assist participants in the development of their professional skills.
Workshops will explore and analyze the following topics:

- Cultural Diplomacy, Nation Branding & EU-Chinese Relations
- German-Chinese Cultural Diplomacy
- Sports in the Framework of EU-Chinese Relations
