Introduction

MA & PhD Programs

It is our pleasure to introduce you to our MA & PhD programs in International Relations, International Economics, Business, Management, Global Governance and Cultural Diplomacy.

In the 21st century, the importance of both bilateral and multilateral relations has grown more than ever before. As a result, cultural diplomacy has become a critical tool for promoting stability and cooperation across political, economic, and social spheres worldwide. This shift has increased interest in studying cultural diplomacy and created a strong demand for professionals who combine solid theoretical knowledge with practical experience in the field.

At the same time, the declining influence of individual nation-states, together with the global scope of modern challenges such as international politics and economics, global governance, climate change, health crises, terrorism, and human rights has created a strong need for interdisciplinary education. Success in today’s international careers requires knowledge that spans multiple fields rather than expertise in a single discipline. Therefore, individuals preparing for careers in international relations, governance, business, management, or diplomacy must develop a deep understanding of several interconnected areas. University programs that aim to prepare students and early-career professionals for these careers must adjust their curricula to provide both broad knowledge and practical skills across these disciplines.

CCDS Graduate Programs, offered in partnership with leading universities, provide international students with unique educational opportunities that combine rigorous academic instruction with practical training. These programs equip students with a strong theoretical foundation in the key disciplines of cultural diplomacy, international relations, global governance, economics, and related fields, while also developing the practical skills needed to apply this knowledge in real-world settings. By integrating theory and practice, the programs prepare students to navigate the complex challenges of the 21st century and to pursue careers in diplomacy, international organizations, government, global business, and other global sectors.

CCDS offers advanced MA and PhD programs that provide a comprehensive and interdisciplinary approach to international relations, global economics, global governance, management, and cultural diplomacy. These programs are distinctive in their content and methodology, combining rigorous academic instruction with practical professional development opportunities tailored to prepare students for careers in the international arena.

The programs are designed to equip students with both high-level knowledge and practical experience. Through a combination of theoretical training, applied learning, and professional engagement, students develop the skills and networks necessary to advance their careers even before graduation. To support this, the programs offer a range of professional development tracks that allow students to gain relevant experience and build connections in the fields they intend to pursue.

Students may choose from the following professional development programs based on their career goals:

  • Specialization on Global Governance Institutions (Including the UN, the EU, and the African Union, OECD; UNESCO, IMF)
  • Specialization on Governments (Including all of the work of the government offices domestically as well as in the diplomatic field).
  • Specialization on Parliaments (Including all aspects of the work of parliaments at the national and international level)
  • Specialization on Economic Global Institutions & Corporations (Including all aspects of the work of economic global institutions & corporations)
  • Specialization on NGOs (including all aspects of the work of NGOs at the national and international level)

Key Objectives of the Programs

The degrees offered by CCDS are designed to provide students with comprehensive knowledge, practical skills, and professional networks essential for careers in international affairs. The key objectives of the programs include:

  • Knowledge in Cultural Diplomacy & Preparing for the Future of the Field – To educate students on Cultural Diplomacy within the broader political, economic, and cultural context. The programs also encourage independent thinking and critical reflection on emerging issues in this rapidly evolving field.
  • Analysis of Innovative Governance Strategies – To enable students to analyze modern governance strategies, including soft and smart power approaches, and to understand new theories of interdependence within contemporary international relations.
  • Professional Skills, Experience, and Networks – To equip students with the skills, practical experience, and professional relationships necessary to secure employment immediately during-after graduation. The programs aim to prepare graduates for careers in institutions such as the United Nations, European Union, African Union, OECD, UNESCO, IMF, national governments, parliaments, multinational corporations, and international NGOs.

Key Benefits of the Programs

CCDS degrees offer several distinctive benefits that enhance both academic and professional development:

  • Expertise in Multiple Academic Fields – Students gain expertise in at least two complementary disciplines (for example, Cultural Diplomacy and International Relations/Business/Economics). This multidisciplinary approach significantly expands career opportunities compared to specialization in a single field.
  • Professional Development Programs – Students participate in tailored professional development programs that provide practical skills, experience, and networking opportunities in traditional areas of international relations as well as within organizations such as the UN, EU, AU, national governments, parliaments, multinational corporations, and NGOs. These programs are specifically designed to equip students with the tools to advance their careers and secure employment in their chosen institutions.
  • Hybrid Model of University and NGO Partnership – The programs combine academic study with practical experience through active participation in NGO activities. This structure allows students to gain hands-on experience while completing their degrees, enhancing their CVs and career readiness. Students receive privileged access to ICD programs and events, offering opportunities to network with world leaders and experts across various fields. They may also take on key roles during these events, including moderating sessions, conducting interviews with high-level speakers, and presenting and publishing research papers.
